“Let Your Light Shine” is a talent showcase that is held twice a year. This is a day of sharing and healing of depression and suicide awareness. Imani Within encourages non-traditional interventions that include creative therapy such as art, drama and music. This will lead to people feeling comfortable in seeking diagnosis and treatment and reduce the stigma and shame that can be associated with mental illness. This event takes place in October for the week of Depression Awareness and the month of May for Mental Health Awareness. This joy-filled experience “Let Your Light Shine” will take place in Atlanta, GA with the goal to strengthen the community awareness of Depression and Suicide and bridge the gap between different cultures and backgrounds to build unity, healing and empowerment. The festivities are free to the general public and will feature special speakers to speak on the subject of Depression and Suicide. There will be a variety of performances from community participants in R&B, Poetry, Rap, Hip Hop, and Dance. Food and activities will be available.
